Is your beauty routine vegan?

I’m guessing not.

Don’t worry–I don’t judge. Everyone is at a different place in their vegan journey, and for me, personal care products can be a tough area to stay totally cruelty-free with. I do my best.

I recently sampled some products from Intrinsic Organics, a Bay Area-based beauty products line, and wanted to give them a shout. Here’s the thing: hand-crafted beauty products can be expensive, yes. But I firmly believe you can find the money to invest in at least a good moisturizer, shampoo, or some other staple item that you’re going to use every day. You don’t have to totally empty your bathroom cabinets and start over with natural products, but begin phasing out the toxic crap and putting a little more money toward the good stuff. You’re worth it. 

Not all of this company’s products are 100 percent vegan (some include beeswax), but they do make an awesome vegan sugar scrub and a facial moisturizing serum with hemp oil that I’m completely in love with. I really believe in supporting companies that are creating natural personal care products. (Did you know that the average woman puts over 500 chemicals on her body through lotions, potions, makeup and whatnot before she even leaves the house in the morning?) Gross.
